Kopi Indonesia pada saat ini hasilnya, menempat peringkat ketiga terbesar di dunia. Kopi memiliki sejarah yang panjang dan memiliki peranan penting bagi pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia. Indonesia diberkati dengan letak geografisnya yang sangatlah cocok bagi tanaman kopi. Letak Indonesia sangat ideal bagi iklim mikro untuk pertumbuhan dan produksi kopi.Berdasarkan data bahwa persentase, tujuan penjualan kopi di Propinsi Jawa Timur sebesar 69 persen ke pedagang pengepul, 27 persen ke pedagang lokal, dan 4 persen langsung ke pabrik kopi. Itu harus dimaksimalkan,” ujar Budi. Kluster-kluster tersebut ada di Desa Sukorejo Kecamatan Sumberingin, Bondowoso. Di Dukuh Sukorejo, Krajan, Pondok Jeruk, Kluncing dan Sukosawah. Petani di lima kluster di wilayah tersebut menanam dua jenis kopi, yakni 40 persen Kopi Robusta dan 60 persen Kopi Arabika. Jenis-jenis Arabika antara lain: Lini S, Usda, Kolumbia, Kartika, Kobra (Kolumbia Brasil) dan BP 416A. Contoh Kopi Robusta adalah BP 409, BP 42, BP 358, SA 288.

Dalam hal ini membuktikan bahwa binaan dari Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao, Jember, Jawa Timur untuk petani di Kabupaten Bondowoso ini sangat antusias dan serius untuk pengembangan Kopi cirri Khas Bondowoso. Ciri khas suatu tempat semakin terangkat dan menjadikan suatu nilai dari Kopi tersebut secara Indikasi Geografis, seperti halnya yang telaha ada seperti Kopi Toraja, Mandheling, Kopi Kintamani, Kopi Java Dampit, Kopi Bajawa Flores, Kopi Wamena, nah sekarang muncul Kopi Bondowoso.Kerjasama antara peneliti, pemerintah, akademimisi dan pelaku usaha harus semakin sinergi untuk pengembangan Kopi diseluruh wilayah Indonesia.
